How do you know how many points you’ll earn for a particular credit card purchase? Most rewards credit cards offer 1 point for general spending, but often more for purchases in categories like gas stations and grocery stores. Credit card issuers assign retailers with what are called “merchant category codes,” which will be used to determine how many points you’ll earn. Be sure to know where your credit cards offer the most rewards so you can always take advantage of them.
